A closer look at the score

Within the slow, measured pace of an *Adagio* tempo, short melodic figures unfold in the right hand, while the left hand moves through ascending arpeggios before resting on sustained notes. The harmonic progression—moving from F to Em, A9, and Dm7—shifts the mood between brightness and tension; meanwhile, the thickening of right-hand chords during the *mf* and *f* sections expands the piece's expressive range.

Following the dense chords and powerful expression of the middle section, the music returns to a lighter, *mp* movement. Although the opening melody reappears in the latter part, the conclusion shifts direction toward an A major chord rather than returning to the initial F chord. A *ritardando* and a *fermata* allow the final resonance to linger.
