A piano piece that brings happiness, like a rainbow
A piano piece by composer Lee Sang Gul that celebrates life's small yet precious moments of happiness.
Happy and precious moments. Yet, why do happy times feel so fleeting? Time slips away, and I grow anxious, wondering if this moment will ever return.
Yet, as the moment approaches, I feel excitement and happiness—only to be seized by the fear that this happiness might vanish. It is a recurring cycle, yet I know that one day it will fade away. After all, everything comes to an end...

A closer look at the score
Beginning in *Allegro* and 4/4 time, the right hand alternates between short melodic phrases and sustained notes, while the left hand supports the flow with steady, even accompaniment. Amidst the bright resonance of the Cmaj9 chord, the harmonic color shifts with the introduction of E7, an A♭ augmented chord, and an F♯ half-diminished 7th chord.
In the latter section, the key signature changes to two sharps, and the earlier melody continues within the realm of D major. The technique of maintaining a recurring melody while altering harmonies and keys creates diverse moods, much like the colors of a rainbow.
With a sequence of *mp*, *mf*, and *f* dynamics, along with crescendos and decrescendos, the same melody can be played with varying volume and weight. The piece concludes with a D major chord.
