A closer look at the score
Written in 4/4 time at an *Andante* tempo, the piece features eighth notes moving in parallel between the hands, creating a steady, consistent flow. The melody, initially based on C, G, and Em, is enriched by the harmonic colors of A, Gm, and Fm. The transition—moving from Fm with a gradual softening of dynamics back to the C theme—allows the same melody to be heard with a different emotional character.
In the middle section marked *f*, the right hand employs dense chords and sustained notes, contrasting with the constant motion of the left hand. In the latter part, the music alternates between C and Fm over left-hand arpeggios, while sustained notes in the right hand bridge these harmonic shifts. The piece concludes on a C chord, fading to *p* through a *ritardando* and a *decrescendo*.
